Board Meetings

Just a reminder! Every second Tuesday of the month the Town of Crowley hold its board meetings at 7:00 p.m. Make plans to attend to keep up with what is happening in YOUR community.

 

CCHC History Books

crowleycentennialbookA "Special Edition" history book commemorating the Centennial for Crowley County is available. The book contains the history of the county beginning in the late 1890's. The book is divided by chapters of the early days of the area, our farming, industries, ranching, towns, churches, schools, the history of when and how we began as Crowley County and what we are in 2011. There are 320 historical pictures in the book with the history to go with them. The books are $30.00 plus a $5.00 charge for shipping and handling..

Education

Crowley County is served by an excellent education system. The school district has gained recognition for its outstanding band and choir programs. The Crowley County RE-1J system provides a complete K-12 educational system for the county. This system has an excellent track record and experiences a 97.8% graduation rate. Moreover, the system has a very respectable 60-75% of its graduates who go on to higher education.

The K-12 system is supported by an outstanding system of community or junior colleges. Otero Junior College, located 30 minutes away in La Junta, offers a full two-year curriculum in a variety of fields and offers select 4-year programs. Additionally, the junior college has participated in setting up customized training programs to meet the needs of industry.

Colorado State University-Pueblo is about a 45-minute drive from Crowley County. This State University offers a full range of baccalaureate degrees as well as graduate degrees in selected curricula. The University works with private business to support their research and training needs, and anticipates expanding this program in the future to gain more flexibility. Pueblo Community College (PCC) is also located in Pueblo and offers a variety of trade and two-year programs, and limited four-year degrees.
